It's me. Hi
![]()

{Time Set: In a lull in military activity some time in the VERY near future - basically just a time without a major conflict going on} It had taken many hours of debate within the halls of Freedom House - the centre of government for The Republic of the Cloud Peoples. Over these many hours, the Prime Minister (Edward Hertz) had been persuaded to change his long held ideals on the nation's military and stance of the worldwide state of affairs. In one final push of debating, the PM and his close colleagues - the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Economics, and a few others had been beaten (metaphorically) into submission. It had not made Hertz's day. "Mr. Gràhem". He sighed, "it looks like you'll have to make the preparations. I guess it may be for the best, but whether we like it or not, that's democracy. Get to it immediately please". "Yes sir" was the Minister of Defence's reply. (OOC: Meanwhile the rest of the government and the citizens breathed a sigh of relief. Would the PM finally think about the people for once??:P) He returned to his office and began to write:
[OOC: I basically just copied this from the last thread - ignore the original and pretend I never started it ![]() I'm looking for response (in a letter form if possible) within the next 3 days. I shall then outline the information about the venue, travel to the venue, and what can be expected. Then in about 5 or so days, the Summit will start. If you do not get a reply in before it starts we can imagine you have and go from there] |

It's me. Hi

Mega length post coming up. Most of it you don't need to read, and if you don't want to, just scroll down to the text past the two lines. DAY 1: Each representative for each participating nation is greeted by a guide on arrival to the country. Representatives arriving by aircraft were met by their guide at Forbek International Airport at Freedom City, whilst representatives arriving by water were greeted at the At the Grand Republic Naval Base at Safe Haven on the coast. Representatives travelling by other means were met at the borders at point of their arrival. The guides directed each person (and bear) a luxury limo built especially for foreign diplomats, and were driven (in great comfort I should add) down streets and roads to the Grand Hotel in the capital. (Just ignore the debris from recent riots, the protesters at the Government offices and the heavy smog & pollution ).On arrival to the hotel, each representative was shown to their individual rooms (or special bed at the zoo...) (and I should say the rooms are great contrary to Sourge's impression). The representatives were then left for an hour to acclimatize before being led to the function room for a special lunch (yes, there is a vegetarian option...) and once that was over each representative was led back to their limo for a quick tour around the capital. Each tour involved: - A visit to the Eleni Forbek Statue, commemorating the founder of the Republic, and an end to the Monarchy. - A visit and brief tour around the Government Offices, including a brief photoshoot (yay) with Prime Minister Edward Hertz. - A visit to the Old Palaces - the ruins of the castle and palace of the Monarchy. - A visit to the National Museum, where a brief history was given of the formation and growth of the Republic (if you want to know about it, check this work in progress: http://www.nationstates.net/nation=the_cloud_peoples/detail=factbook/id=451281 ) - A visit and tour around the convention centre where the talks would be held. - And finally, back to the hotel. Of course the route to each point in the tour has tried to avoid all the bad bits...har har har. On arrival back to the hotel, each representative is given some time to themselves before an optional talk with the Minister for Culture (Jakkob Lakk) for any questions about The Cloud Peoples. [If you do have any questions about this nation, or whatever, ask below and the Minister will reply. If not I'll post Day 2 tomorrow morning which is the actual talk. No I'm not delaying...all this stuff above is what I had in mind. The actual talk will probably last 2-3 RL days depending on activity.] |

Empress Tanjansa decided for the optional talk with the Minister of Culture, seeing as she was a more recent leader on the world stage and could do with learning of more foreign cultures. |

Hersod decided to explore the city a bit more without a tour, probably finding some more land marks than the ones stated. |

A man in alternative Scourgian robes is seen talking with protesters. He seems to be riling them on, and they have significantly higher morale due to his actions. |

The Minister for Culture was pleased at Tanjansa's interest, and welcomed any questions they had, while providing a bit more of a history of the nation.
Hersod's guide appeared worried at this choice, but no motion was made to prevent movement of delegates throughout the city. Just stay away from the areas patrolled by armed guards, and don't forget to breathe lightly to avoid the smog ![]()
Lakk's reply involved a short history of Christianity within the Republic, and replied that around 8% of the population (around 16% of the Christian population) were Catholic - most in the western and southern provinces.
A number of police officers are seen looking coldly at the man and words are exchanged to someone via walkie-talkie, however the man is allowed to continue. |

The man then begins a tour throughout the city, including areas the delegates will not be allowed in. Another man in alternative Scourgian robes is with him. On closer inspection, the first man has green eyes and silvery-blond hair, while the second has blue eyes and dirty blond hair. To those well versed in Scourgian robe style, they would seem to have no rank - if the style was applied to normal Scourgian robes, they would be civil servants. Such fashion is oft used by Scourgian spies posing as normal Scourgii, though this knowledge is limited. |

The Cewanian delegation politely refuses to question the Minister for Culture. They rather take some time to acclimatize to their rooms which involves searching for hiden listening device. And then some time to acclimatize to the country itself which involves finding gas masks to combat the smog... |

Lakk responds, explaining that the Republic's foreign policy involves maintaining peaceful relations with neighbour states. On a wider world stage, The Cloud Peoples generally follows happenings, and will decide to intervene if it is believed the help or influence of the Republic is needed. Internally, the Republic maintains pro free-market policies for many services and choices, with the exception of the education sector, police and fire services, the navy and logistical parts of the health service. As for customs and history, think European - primarily Germanic. Tribal history is uncommon with the exception of the southern provinces.
There appears to be no reaction from officials.
Yeah, that pesky smog!
Clearance is granted, central city airspace is freed up with relative ease.
Also no reaction from officials. Wouldn't want to be disagreeing with our guests. ![]()
Replies from protesters indicate anger at policies towards education, healthcare and military, and unease at increasing tensions with the western provinces seeking independence.
Guides are seeing gently trying to persuade them to return to the hotel. [I'll post the 2nd day - the actual reason for this thread in a few hours. :P] |

The two men seem very reluctant to do so. Two women are also seen soon with them. Slowly, it becomes realized that the physical descriptions seen so far are eerily similar to that of of General Sir Hanke Dominus, Lord Justyn, Minister Sir Simin Gutenviller, and Minister Sir Fleur Aiello. And then, just as that is realized, a Scourgian plane lands. It's clearly a private plane, and by the decoration and size, it is in fact the plane of the Archal family. In the airport, a few armed guards in both traditional and more modern gear roll out, as well as a few small dragons. Then, the Arch and Archia themselves come out. The armed guards, dragons, and their Benevolences walk outside. If anyone interrupts them, they should best know that the Scourgii don't take kindly to their Benevolences being hindered for any reason. |

The delegates fly over the city, yet they don't see much due to the smog. ''I'm appaled at this! Our founder should be a role-model. I will have to speak about this after the summit.'' Bradley speaks after squinting for a while'' You should also mention the riots.'' ''Riots? What riots?'' As Mathew asked Bradley pointed at a small hole in the smog where small fires, police and running people could be seen. ''Dear me, I have to start paying more attention to international news, this is awful!'' Mathew cut their flight short and went back to his room leaving a small message to Hertz: Dear Mr.Hertz I am appalled to see the state of this nation, we will certainly speak about this after the summit. Until then (see my signature) |
