The Mauswit Solicitor Offices had gained a lot of life in the past few hours, a large surprise to locals whose main 'inside joke' was "if you need legal matters done, you'd be better off writing it yourself rather then hiring Mauswit". The Offices, do however, have other uses - the small matter of the MoD Media Monitoring Centre takes up 3 or the 5 stories of the building. On this particular day, there was a small crowd around the area (specially dedicated!) to monitoring Great Scourge media. Phone calls were being made. Prime Minister Edward Hertz was called out of his meeting with the City Minister of New Haven, and provided with a video player - showing, was a copy of a speech made seconds ago) by a Scourgii(?) official by the name of Simin. A frown spread across his face, and once it had finished he whispered into his assistants' ear. A few minutes later Hertz, along with an official from the Media Monitoring Centre (video call), the minister of Defence, and the minister for Economics (also on video call) met to discuss the matter. "What of the missiles?" Was Hertz first question. "Information tells us they're inoperational, likely duds" was the Defence minister's (Grahem's) reply "I would guess it is a sign of strength, a 'warning shot', or more likely both. It seems our matters in the west have been acted on." Hertz sighed. "What options do we have?" "Our military strength is high, we could defend ourselves if attacked by the Scourgii" replied Grahem "However, if other Grand Coalition member states join in, we will have problems". "The Embargo" said the Economics minister "will do some damage. There is a large income from businesses and companies operating in Great Scourge. We could see some food prices rise, though staple foods should not be affected, however, again this could change if other nations join in. No matter what happens though" she added "Our economy will suffer, and is already showing signs of stress from military movements. People and businesses are going to move, or close if it looks like we're going to have financial or military problems". There was a pause whilst Hertz thought about the matter. After a while, he said: "Very well. We need to inform the Scourg(where's that handy table gone?) government that we will take their demands into consideration. Apart from that we will not engage them in any communications. Additionally, get a Public Announcement out informing citizens that matters are under control and will be resolved soon. We also need to increase police presence in major cities, especially in the captal, the main ports, and in the western cities. We need to suppress any riots that may happen. I'd like raids to be carried out on any citizens of Great Scourge currently living in this country that we've had tabs on for the past 3 months, and, as they have, seize any of their assets. That is all for now." A call is made the government of Great Scourge. A voice without accent is on The Cloud Peoples end: "This is an official Republic of The Cloud Peoples call on behalf of Prime Minister Edward Hertz. Your demands for a referendum in the western provinces of the Cloud Peoples is being discussed. Do not attempt to make any moves within or in to our international land or sea borders, or into our international air space. Any such act will be treated as an act of aggression to The Cloud Peoples. All official communications from The Cloud Peoples to Great Scourge will cease following this call, until communication is required. If you have any questions, voice them now." I got a bit carried away there..hehe |

Prime Minister Nerissa Diefenbach was reading a copy of The Davisia Journal while sipping on Verdeplanta tea when she recived the news by her secretary, Teuvo Paul. He walked in her office, frowning. "Our allies have released a declaration of offense against The Cloud Peoples." "Who issued the statement?" "The Scourgii, miss." "Oh, the Scourgii!" She chuckles. "Don't you remember when we were at war with them? And how they occupied our neighbors? We were just kids then!" They both have a good laugh, and then their faces turn solemn. "Miss, would you like me to play the audio recording of the speech from the Scourgii woman, Mrs. Simin?" "Yes, sir, I would." The broadcast plays. After it is done, Paul and Diefenbach are both silent, and then Diefenbach speaks. "That was moving. I'll call for a meeting of the Parliament. Alert Mr. Davis of this. "Yes, Ms. Diefenbach. Immediately." Four Hours Later. The Parliament of Ankshara is in session. The Speaker, Plinio Landau, is speaking, as his title says. "This is a dire situation, representitives. The Cloud Peoples has defied the act of freedom, and the Prime Minister has accepted the horrific destruction of their enviorment. They live in clouds of smog. [OBVIOUS PUN] We shall cast a vote after you watch this transmission by Mrs. Simin from Great Scourge. [after the transmission is done] "Representitives, what is your vote?" There is a loud chorus of beeps on tablets because the representitives are casting their votes. The votes turned out to be a suprising majority. "It seems this law has been passed." Landau turns to Diefenbach, who is sitting in front of him in a less elevated seat. "Ms. Diefenbach, will you accept this young law?" "Yes, I swear by the Socialist State and all it's glorious possesions that this act and law shall be passed, regarding an embargo directed to The Republic of The Cloud Peoples." The embargo is passed. All imports from The Cloud Peoples to Ankshara is frozen. All former citizens of The Cloud Peoples will not be accepted into Ankshara, and all citizens who have immigrated from The Cloud Peoples and have not lived in Ankshara for at least four months will be sent into the Overseas Territory. Ankshara will not export any products into The Cloud Peoples." "Thank you, Ms. Diefenbach. The Parliament of Ankshara is out of session. Thank you." |

"Prime Minister, it seems likely we're going to have problems - information suggests that the nations of Ankshara, and Harndar will join with Great Scourge on the Embargo front, and if it ends up coming to it, even conflict. Did you read my suggestion for the proposal of allies?" Grahem, the Minister of Defence asked. "I did." Was the reply. "Even if this is resolved soon, it is likely our world position as a superpower will suffer, and I agree with your proposal for possible allies - one of those nations has expressed some interest in the past for the formation of stronger ties. Send out proposals." "Yes sir." Hertz called his assistant "Please call for the government to assemble in the next 3 hours. We need to start the referendum discussion to buy time". Zoom past these 2 messages if you're looking for the outcome of the discussion. Two messages were sent. The first to The JaTye Corporate Federation of Kanosus, and the second to The Hold Empire of Plasma Familiars: Dear highly esteemed Jathic Tylius of Kanosus, Due to recent events, and as a result of hostility towards like minded, pro-market nations like yourselves, we wish to propose an economic and possibly military alliance with your nation. The alliance would include free movement of goods and citizens between your nation and ours, a non-aggression pact and possible assistance in military matters. We apologise for the bluntness of the letter, and the manner in which it has arrived, but we feel it would be a wise move. Please take some time to discuss this matter with the rest of your government, if required, and we await for your response. Sincerely, J.Gràhem Minister of Defence, writing on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister Edward Hertz of The Republic of The Cloud Peoples. "Attention all" said Hertz. "You all know the reason for this emergency meeting. We need to discuss the matter of the referendum in the Western Cloud Province. It seems that freedom movements and Great Scourge and it's coalition do not accept the outcome of the last referendum. Our options are as follows: accept the creation of a new referendum and see the consequences happen. This option also means that we, as a large superpower are seen as doing the will of another nation, which will not be good in the eyes of our critics,citizens, or businesses within the nation. Our other option given to us by Great Scourge is to refuse and prepare for conflict. Provided we find allies, this could be carried out, and we could defend our sovereignty, but to great damage to our nation. As you can see, both options are uninviting, the Western Province is an important part of the nation, and if it becomes independent, other stability within the nation may weaken. What say you all?" After three hours of discussion, an agreement was not made. The ministers decided to reconvene tomorrow, and issue a statement then. [basically I will type the decision tomorrow, or possibly when there is a yes/no answer from Kanosus and Plasma Familars] Great Scourge was informed of the current status. |

One delegate says,"Cloud Peoples has fallen far enough, we must threaten them to show them that if they don't change, they will loose citizens!" "And show aggression?" Another said,"We have made a path for ourselves to make sure we are kept out of each conflict. Why are we doing this embargo anyway? To freeze their assets? To stop trade and what not? This embargo will make this into a war if we're not careful enough. We must find a way to change the Cloud People's government spending another way." "Aggression is the only reason why we are here! If we didn't show aggression to the Dragonlineans, there might not be a Harndar!" "Are you really going to go that far back? Yes our ancestors had to fight to survive, but they created a future of peace, not a future of war!" "SILENCE!"The Senate says," We must make a vote to see where everyone is at." When the votes finished, the statistics show that out of 200 delegates, 100 said embargo is the best option. "God I hate the 50/50 split...."The Senate says as he rubs his face in stress. Tryggvi, present as an observer, reminds his friends that its an EMBARGO, not a war. Harndar is not required to help the Reppubliccastasse in any of its aggressive wars, excepting extraneous circumstances. Simin Gutenviller, in a more quiet press conference but with Justyn, Lord Wiegand, announces quite simply that any nations making an alliance with the Cloud Peoples shall be subjected to the same embargo terms. Once again, she is quite vague as to why this conference has been called, though those in the know might suspect Ministerium spies have something to do with it. Another vote was called. out of the 200, 190 voted for the embargo of Cloud Peoples. An embargo was set on Cloud Peoples, freezing Harndarians products from heading to Cloud Peoples. |

After several hours of debate they agree to an economic alliance with Cloud Peoples due to the fact of Great Scourges actions. A message is sent to Harndar. Dear Harndarian Government, We know you are embargoing Cloud Peoples while we are supplying them. We hope this doesn't drive a divide between our nations. We choose our choose based on how Great Scourge is acting. To my nation we think Great Scourge might be trying to provoke a war. If war does break out I hope our two nations will fighting each other. Scourgian intelligence operators intercept the message, but do send it on its way - not before reporting to the Ministerium. With the Scourgian government working closer together than ever, it becomes possible for Sir Hanke to quickly have the first through tenth fleets to the south of Freedom Isle. The Scourgian ambassador to the Plasma Familiars is as usual incredibly frustrated. She had a respectul country cottage, and was the Commissioner of the Interior of the Scourgian Communist Party, and the Minister for the Seas, but then she had to go and innocently flirt with Lord Wiegand! Nice 'promotion' he gave her, exiling her to this godforsaken excuse for a country. She stormed about and determined to close the embassy, posting complaints on its walls. However, she then stormed right to the government offices of the Plasma Familiars and demanded to see the Grand Plasma Seer. Meanwhile, a single white grape in a jar of olive oil, the jar being made of pink glass and capped in silver is sent to Kanosus, the Plasma Familiars, and the Cloud Peoples. |

The Anksharian ambassador to Plasma Familiars is also outraged at the news. He casually walks through the capital of Plasma Familiars, and then jogs right up to the government building, possibly right next to the Scourgian ambassador. |

Keeping my messages shorter today 'cause I'm tired :p
Following news of Harndarian and Anksharian embargoes, the Minister of Economics, and the Minister of Trade, acting on request informed Harndar and Ankshara of the following: -Reciprocated embargoes. -Announcement of cessation of communication, until required. -Announcement of military actions taken on any Harndarian or Anksharian movements within or in to the Republic's international, airspace, land or sea borders.
A message is returned to Plasma Familiars: "We thank you for agreeing to start an economic alliance with The Cloud Peoples. We hope this continues to improve relations between our two nations."
Symbolising anything? Or just for fun?  The Debate reaches a conclusion - 5 in favour of permitting a referendum to 4 against. Great Scourge is notified, and preparations are made to organise a referendum. |
