Though this power change is already seen with the shifting of power in the somewhat less important Kouilement and the falling into disgrace of numerous conservative politicians and military officers (as well as the pacifist party rejoining The Left), the time for a senatorial election has come and passed, and the shift in power is interesting.
The coalition for the government, called The Left, is still the government. As usual, the largest party is the Scourgian Party for Liberal Democratic Socialism, with 318 seats.
Breakdown:

The Left (government) (653 seats):
Scourgian Party for Liberal Democratic Socialism, 318 seats
Scourgian Pacifist Party, 140 seats
Scourgian Communist Party, 126 seats
Scourgian Pirate Party, 30 seats
Liberal Party, 20 seats [Actually are left libertarians, but reject the name libertarian as the Libertarian Party is not the best friend to leftists {and if someone calls the US libertarians liberal one more time, I WILL FLIP! They'd let businesses do all the things the government is no longer allowed to do, so what's the real difference?}]
Scourgian Party for Korruptionsbekämpfung, 19 seats

Coalition for Moderate Government (official opposition) (254 seats):
Party for Scourgian Conservatism, 152 seats
Libertarian Party, 32 seats
Traditionalist Party, 32 seats
Party of Democracy, 21 seats
The Capitalist party, 17 seats

Other Opposition (not official or in a coalition) (366 seats):
Religious Union, 72 seats
Party for Lax Drug Laws, 66 seats [Other than the obvious single-purpose nature of this party, they have generally socialist views]
Anarchist Union, 57 seats (absent)
Worker and Farmer's Union, 34 seats [separate from the Communist Party due to a dislike of the Communist Party's willingness to just stand by as the Liberal Socialist Democrats began dominating The Left and their failure to protest when the Liberal Socialist Democrats allowed a lot of private businesses to exist - the WFU wants fully nationalized industry]
Scourgian Green Party, 20 seats [Extremist environmentalists, extremely anti-globalization, hence their banishment from The Left]
Free Party, 10 seats [Party for various independence movements - went from one seat to ten, which is the highest growth rate of any party]
The Zoo, 3 seats (suspended for desecrating the Senate) [its senators are a monkey, a rhinoceros and an elephant]
Drunken Party, 2 seats [Joke party, but it has campaigned for laxer alcohol laws]
Independents, 104 seats [Includes senators of parties with one senator]

The next election will likely see even bigger changes, as 5 provinces will be given seats in the senate [they were previously nearly entirely autonomous], and there will be a census.

Harndar is supporting the Scorgian Pacifist and Democracy Parties for now. They hope to get a somewhat more Pacifist Scourge.

[The Party of Democracy is rather conservative (by Scourgian standards - think the US establishment democrats), and backed the Conservative Party-led atrocities in Yusukistan]
The new Overseer of the Senate has been chosen. Romina Bischoff has accepted that the Pacifist Party senator Armel Wörner shall be the new Overseer.
The circumstances of his appointment were strange - the Pacifist Party did not entirely back him, though he was the choice of many independents and non-official opposition senators, as well as the SPK. However, the continuing of Romina Bischoff was the largest choice.
But, the Coalition for Moderate Government, the Scourgian Green Party, and the Libertarian Party, threatened to veto it and possibly start a government shutdown if yet another SPLDS senator became Overseer. The Pacifist Party's original choice wasn't popular enough with other parties, so Armel Wörner was elected. Those against Bischoff accepted this choice, though the Conservative Party did protest.

The Whips have been chosen, and it is expected that deals with the non-official opposition senators will begin shortly.

Archbishop Beelzebane expresses hopes that the reorganized Senate can lead to improved relations between Yusukistan and Great Scourge. PM Neapolis, being the racist jackarse he is, says they are all filthy flagellum anyway.

The Coalition for Moderate Government has officially welcomed the Libertarian Party into its coalition. How long this will last is anyone's guess.
Meanwhile, however, the CMG has become the subject of extreme controversy for attempting to make a deal with the Party of Good Folks, which is currently under scrutiny in the highest court in Great Scourge, the Constitutional Assembly. The ruling may entirely ban the party and be cause for the arrests of its members.

The 11 seats formerly occupied by the Party of Good Folks have been given to the Conservative Party after a short reelection in all provinces that had a seat occupied by the Party of Good Folks.
