Thankfully, the other two hadn't ended in such bloodshed, but they still were giving General Azumi a damn headache. He wasn't worried about Zamfara's populace, nor the general populace of Gobira. Those could easily be suppressed. The foreigners couldn't. Hopefully there hadn't been any cameras. Evening broadcast, the People's Times 15:00 local time "...A horrible tragedy has shaken the city of Zamfara today, when what the Ministry of State Security described as 'terrorists' stormed a busy city market, sealing off all the exits, and gunned down over two hundred with automatic weaponry, wounding an additional four hundred. The Ministry of State Security says it has found the culprits responsible for this terrible bloodshed and will be publicly executing them in Zamfara sometime next week. The Velkandi Dominion, and its Armed Forces, demand a thorough layout of the country's laws. If they falsify anything, the Dominion will force the truth out of Gobria. Until then, they will examine the evidence and witness testimonies. They also examine who wrote the confessions and where their allegiance lies.

Many of the thirty-eight eyewitness testimonies demonstrate significant differences from each other- some say the shooting started on the east side, some on the west, some with machine guns, not assault rifles, and some say that the military, while trying to stop the insurgents, was firing wildly into the crowd. Being a general slice of the Gobiran population, it is impossible to describe every single one's loyalties. In contrast, the officers' statements are all professionally in line with one another, with not a single disparity between them, and all agree that the military only eliminated armed targets. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry for Justice announces they finds that the evidence is not satisfactory and could have been falsified - indeed, the current Minister for Justice had. under the Lordson administration, been tortured to give a false confession. Their show trial also included false testimony, also retrieved under torture or bribery, and phony evidence. They continue to demand the right for Scourgian investigators to go to Gobira and, without hindrance and with an armed guard from the Scourgian military, examine the crime scene and make their own investigations on all the supposed criminals. They state that if they so much as smell something fishy, there will be swift and harsh repercussions. |

To: Great Scourge From: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Gobira The People's Republic feels grossly insulted with allegations that it has falsified evidence and not provided a fair trial for the insurgents. It feels these allegations are completely unfounded and only malicious in nature. The Scourgian request for investigators to the scene has been denied. There is little evidence remaining at the scene at all, most casings, discarded weapons, discarded magazines, blood stains, and bodies have all been removed from the square. A small floral memorial has been placed at the site for loved ones to mourn their loss. There is no doubt most forensic evidence otherwise still at the scene is long contaminated by the present time. The Velkandi Dominion finds a particularly strange quote left in one of the eyewitnesses' testimony: "I was looking at where I heard the shots coming from. There were a few market stalls between me and the entrance, so I couldn't see who was shooting. Someone yelled 'it's the army!' and I was shot in the arm at that point, so I was on the ground. It hurt real bad, worst I've felt in a long time, and since then I've been here in the hospital." |

The Scourgian Ministry for Justice begins cooperating with the Dominion of Velkand. Further, the Senate officially denounces the People's Republic of Gobira, in a motion passed 1232 to 41. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs publishes the denouncement and footage of Sir Simin Gutenviller reading it is displayed on SEK 1, the longer version on SEK 3. "On this day the 8th of the Buote Veilta 3 of the year 28 in the 19th Eriesan, common solar calendar 27th of the 8th month of the 2024th year, the Reppubliccastasse of Great Scourge officially denounces the People's Republic of Gobira, embargo pending. On these accounts this denouncement is made: That the PR of Gobira is ruled by a military junta. That said military junta portrays its rule to be that of a people's republic, despite having ruled for some 60 years and having called not a single election. That this military dictatorship is responsible for numerous repressions of human rights, including the recognition of two religions only - Sunni Islam and Catholic Christianity - among things. Further that this military rule was established during a coup against the legitimately elected democratic government of Gobira, only a few years after it gained independence from Kanosus. That there is a wealth of reason to believe that the junta that rules Gobira committed genocide against the Yoruba people. That this dictatorship is responsible for artificial famine, due to isolationism and faultily imposed collectivist reform. Further on these suspicions: That the junta ruling Gobira is responsible for numerous brutal repressions of legitimate protest. That all such brutal repression is followed up by cover ups that blame innocents. That the Gobiran dictatorship further extracts evidence for show trials against these innocents through dubious and immoral methods, such as torture and bribery. That Gobira refuses to allow Scourgian investigators to the scene due to the fear that, should these investigators learn the truth, they should have to be killed - resulting in war - or if they manage to safely return to Scourge they shall report all the various atrocious activities of the Gobiran government, resulting in public outrage and likely war. Further the Reppubliccastasse will one last time repeat its demand to be allowed to send investigators with armed guards to Gobira to investigate all evidence as they see fit. Failure to comply will be taken as evidence of all the above suspicions and thus an embargo shall be called. The Motherland further calls for all Scourgian citizens in Gobira to immediately return, as it cannot be held responsible for anything Gobira does against the people of Great Scourge, and for all Scourgii planning to go to Gobira without the express consent of the Head of the Grand Republican Council immediately cancel all plans. If there is the slightest suspicion that Gobira has harmed a single Scourgian citizen, then there shall be war." |

The VADF begins rapid mobilization should an invasion be issued. The Reppubliccastasse is asked as to who should be leading occupation forces. The Dominion would like to step up to the plate as occupier if an invasion is called. They also release the quoted statement from their investigations to the Reppubliccastasse. |

The few Scourgian citizens living or visiting in Gobira have been collected (without harm) and have boarded a flight for Great Scourge. The same has been done for those Velkandi living in Gobira. It furthermore denounces all allegations against its regime made by the Scourgii. The People's Liberation Army has announced it has completed its mobilization and is ready for any invasion, which it reminds both the Scourgii and Velkandi would mean untold collateral civilian deaths and no doubt the limitation of its people's own human rights. Reserve regiments have been called up, male citizens are ready to be drafted, and the small submarine and air forces have been put on high alert, along with coastal defenses. The People's Republic has been placed in its highest state of defense readiness, DEFRED 1. It has announced trespassing by any foreign aircraft or ship will be determined as an act of war. The Reppubliccastasse changes the first two suspicions to accounts. It further says that Velkand should be the occupier, citing its military's relative thinness. Senator-General Sir Hanke Dominus announces a few things at a press conference. "The occupation of Yusukistan is to be lowered from 20,000 troops to 5,000 troops, all of which are to be supplied with the best weaponry available. The occupation of Wakriinja is to be lowered from 20,000 troops to 10,000 troops, again with the best weaponry available. The newly available 25,000 troops are to be based at the Neuestahlsstein [a northern coastal city in Liversinorland] military base and military port. The 8th fleet is to be moved to Neuestahlsstein, as well as all troop carrier ships in the 7th fleet. The remainder of the 7th fleet is to be in southern Yusukistan. The alertness of all Scourgian air units in Liversinorland is to be increased from 2 to 4. The Steel Dome is to be raised on Liversinorland. The Commissioner for Missiles has demanded I remind everyone that we are currently in possession of 102 thermonuclear missiles and there is a possibility of nuclear retaliation should WMDs be used against Scourgian civilians or military personnel. However, an invasion is not yet to be called. Instead, well, I yield the floor." The Minister for Trade, Agata Landau goes to the podium. "Thank you, Sir Hanke. A full embargo is being called on Gobira. We invite all nations to participate. I wish I had more to say, but I don't. Questions?" Minister Sir Simin Gutenviller accepts Gobira's calls for talks, however she demands they be in person and to be hosted in Brihimia, Ankshara/Yusukistan. She further states that there is to be a maximum of five people per party in the talks, and a maximum of two guards per person in the talks. |
