Prime Minister Gutuer Asparg has served his nation well for the past two years. He is a political independent, a particle physicist, an autistic rights' activist, and a suspected asexual. New information, however, has million of Yusukites questioning whether or not he is actually a "he". A worker at the Archbishop Laurentian et Caskos Memorial Hospital in the city of Franciscus, the PM's hometown, leaked a copy of Asparg's birth certificate to the press. What is so scandalous is that his birth certificate indicates his gender as female, yet all other medical, government, and educational records denote Asparg's gender as "male". The Prime Ministry (i.e. the PM's office) released a statement which claimed the female designation on Asparg's birth certificate is merely a clerical error. For the vast majority of Yusukites, however, this is not enough. The entire country is demanding concrete proof of Asparg's masculinity. With such an unstable region of the world on the verge of turmoil, the international community may want to consider looking into this issue. |

Aputsiag groaned as he put down the phone. Of all the trivial things to be put before him, this had to take the cake. Yusukistan's prime minister may be transgender, but probably is subject to a mere clerical error. The week had been dedicated to encouraging communities to organise in more sustainable ways. This was not the first time that project had been delayed. He tried to ignore the issue, but within ten minutes Helfried Rademache burst in with Alexis Blecher, the Party Head for LGBTQ Outreach. "I'm going to pretend this isn't about what I think it is." "Happy to see you too, Councillor," replied Alexis. "Well, take a seat." Helfried began speaking as she sat down. "I see you already know the issue. Well, we can't let Yusukistan devolve into crisis, especially over something so minor. We need to work out a statement." "We will not be making a statement. This issue is below the state. I doubt what we say would assuage any worries Yusukites have anyhow, given our record." "And if we say nothing?" began Alexis. "This issue has been over-reported in the media already, and there are prominent personalities saying they'd support Mr. Asparg if he was transgender in Scourge. It might help us maintain higher LGBTQ voter participation-" "We will not be jeopardising Yusukistan's stability for votes, Blecher." "Of course not! But what if were to merely reiterate the longstanding societal and legal acceptance of-" "Blecher, that'd convince people we know something they don't!" interjected Helfried. Aputsiag sighed. "Look, how about this - we just recommend to the Yusukite government, completely off the record, that, providing this is a clerical error, he provide test results confirming he has XY chromosomes? Don't try to convince me otherwise, actually, that's final. Send a cable, Helfried." |

Gutuer Asparg is sitting under his desk, reading newspaper articles about the question of his gender, when his Deputy PM enters the office. "Are you under your desk, Gutuer?" Dr. Deabarus asks aloud. "Oh, yes I am. What is it, Doctor?" The awkward Graecian answers. "Have you ever had chromosomal testing done?" Asparg is silent for a few moments, leading Deabarus to worry. "Gutuer? Are you okay?" "Filing cabinet, third drawer." Deabarus opens said drawer, and finds an envelope with "G. Asparg results - Univ. of Academia Genetics Lab" written on it. Deabarus looks at the results and groans. "XXXY, huh? Well, you are technically male. At least you have the right parts, though." "I, uhh, I actually do not. My personal physician has been writing lies on my medical records to keep up appearances. It is, ahh, m-my....it is completely ambiguous. Externally and internally." "Damn. The mob will not be pleased. Well, chromosomal test results were Aputsiag's suggestion. I also doubt your physician can pull off fake results." "Indeed. I already asked." "I'll tell our friends in Scourge." "I will be under here if you need me." |
